In order to support the scientists, the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India constituted several fellowship schemes that would lend impetus to their work and pave the way for notable work that would open up new avenues. There are a whole other range of fellowships for scientists. These include the Swarnajayanti fellowship, J C Bose National Fellowship, Visiting Advanced Joint Research Faculty (VAJRA). There are also fellowship schemes for research students. These include National Post-Doctoral Fellowship, Early Career Research Award, SERB overseas postdoctoral fellowship. Schemes instituted for school children include MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge), Student Startup NIDHI award, National Children’s Science Congress. Beneficiary schemes for Women scientists include Knowledge Involvement in Research Advancement through Nurturing (KIRAN), Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence in Women Universities (CURIE), Mobility Scheme and Indo-US Fellowship for Women in STEMM.
