Alternate of Plastic (E) Promo

What makes plastic harmful is that this material takes up to 500 years to decompose. Most plastics are derived from propylene, a simple chemical component of petroleum. When heated in the presence of a catalyst, the monomers of propylene link together by forming extremely strong carbon-carbon bonds with each other. A crucial manufacturing step turns petroleum into a material unrecognized by the organisms that normally break organic matter down. Several government and non-government organizations are involved in the development and presentation of products made from alternatives to plastics. The National Bamboo Mission, IIT-Guwahati’s Centre of Excellence-Sustainable Polymers (CoE-SusPol); the Defense Food Research Laboratory (DFRL); IIT Delhi; the Central Road Research Institute and the CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum to name a few.
