Indo-French Collaboration in S&T (E)

When India counts her friends in foreign relations, France occupies a special place. Both nations have a centuries-old history of trade relations. The French came to India in the 17th century with colonial aspirations. Though the colonialism collapsed, the political, social and cultural ties, then established are maintained even today. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established after the Independence of India. Since then, co-operation has developed in all the major areas, including S&T. Today the S&T has become a core area of cooperation between the two countries. Time to time, both the nations have reaffirmed their commitment and support to expend it further. The testimony of the long-standing S&T collaborations between the two nations which have grown from individual to the systemic level is Indo-French Centre for Promotion of Advance Research ( IFCPAR) and CEFIPRA as it known in French.
