Technique to Reduce Water Pollution (E)

Researchers at the Dehradun-based Graphic Era University have developed a new technique to reduce water pollution. The researchers have created nano-composites from jackfruit peel that can inhibit the growth of unwanted vegetation, such as algae, by removing nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus from the waste water. Unwanted plants in water survive on nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus and the growth of these plants disrupts the photosynthesis of phytoplankton beneath the water surface. Besides, some algae also emit toxic substances.
