Solid waste coming out of the factories, markets, and residential colonies is a major problem in our country as it leads to various kinds of pollution. In order to provide an effective solution to this problem, Municipal Solid Waste Processing Facility was started by CSIR's Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur and over time it has incorporated various techniques to manage different kinds of waste.
