In this opening episode of Building Blocks of Bharat we track the evolution of settlement and the science behind. We start off by exploring one of the oldest cities in the world – Varanasi. Here we track the genesis of the famous ghats that line this city. We also get an insight into how archaeology works and how sites and artifacts are dated. We end the episode with an insight into the town planning integral to the development of Lutyen’s Delhi – with a focus on site selection, architectural influences, layout and zoning.
