Anatomy of a Temple - Building Blocks of Bharat Series (E)

We explore different techniques used in the construction of temples and the unique architecture associated with them. We study temples representative of 3 different architectural styles. The Khajuraho Temple Complex, which is typical of the Nagara or the North Indian style. The stunning Brihadeswar temple in Tanjavur – typical to the Dravida or South Indian style and the Hampi complex in Karnataka – which is a synthesis of the 2 styles. We focus on the geometry, symmetry, material science, and techniques that powered these temples.
