Madrid Protocol (E)
The 30th anniversary of the signing of the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty was observed on October the 4th 2021. Representatives from countries that have signed the protocol, including India, participated in a virtual conference organized by the host country Spain, to mark the occasion. India was represented by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who addressed the event and reiterated India’s commitment to curtail carbon emissions in the Antarctic atmosphere.
