Climate Impact On Mangrove Species (E)

Scientists at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, under the Department of Science and Technology, have studied the amount of rainfall and sea levels in Chilika and Sundarbans along India's east coast, as well as Dwarka and Porbandar on the west coast. The study has found that due to rapid changes in the earth’s climate, some mangrove species are expected to decline from suitable natural marine areas and move towards land by 2070. Mangroves are helpful in many processes related to ecosystems and also help reduce the threats facing coastal ecosystems.
