Winter Fog Experiment (WIFEX) (E)

Climate scientists have been collaborating to understand fog better and improve forecasting. The Winter Fog Experiments (WIFEX) managed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences through India Meteorological Department and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology have studied winter fog at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, and at Hisar. As part of this project, scientists study the physical and chemical as well as microphysics of fog particles, for forecasting winter fog. Other organizations associated with the WIFEX project are National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Airports Authority of India (AAI), GMR Group, Indira Gandhi International Airport, and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali.
