Unlocking space & Atomic Energy Sectors In India (E)

"In this episode, Minister Dr Jitendra Singh asserts that two strategic sectors atomic energy and space technology that had so far been hidden away are being thrown open to private investments. Dr Jitendra Singh is a physician by training and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office looking after Space, Atomic energy and North East affairs. He also told that govt. has liberalised the map making and geospatial policy by removing most restrictions. India is a force to reckon with both in atomic energy and space technology. Now as part of Atma Nirbhar Bharat or self-reliance policy, the government has decided to let the private sector initiate rapid developments. India is setting up new entities to help pilot these and hoping to bring new laws. The Department of Atomic Energy is also embarking on the making of a first research reactor with private participation. Recently India's largest indigenously made Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) the 700 MW plant at Kakrapar in Gujarat has been commissioned. Minister Dr Singh also assesses how India handled the COVID-19 pandemic and answers how it is to work with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "
