Touch-Less Touch Screen Technology (E)

Indian scientists have developed a touch-less touch screen technology that can prove to be very effective in limiting the spread of Coronavirus like infections through contaminated surfaces. Scientists from the Bengaluru based Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, both autonomous institutes of the Department of Science and Technology-GOI,have developed a low-cost, touch-cum-proximity sensor popularly called touchless touch sensor, through a printing technique. This sensor can recognize a proximal or hover touch even from a distance of 9 cm. The work funded by DST-Nano mission has recently been published in the journal Materials Letters.
