How soon will all eligible get vaccinated, now with a billion doses administered, the task ahead is still massive but not unsurmountable. India can do it, and vaccine hesitancy is low in India. There is no way India could have hit a `vaccine century’ without its massive research and industrial base. India’s R&D capabilities have come out looking stellar as three vaccines are already deployed and another 6 vaccines that are made in India are in advanced stages of being tested. The rapid development, testing and massive exercise in managing to administer over a billion doses is a Herculean task. With two out of three Indians already carrying the antibodies for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, are we heading for herd immunity? Will new variants pose another round of threat. Why have therapeutics lagged behind? When will children get vaccinated and do we have enough doses if booster shots are required in the future. This only an intermediate milestone the path is long and arduous for achieving universal vaccination against Covid-19. The big question on every one’s mind when will the pandemic end and will life ever return to normal?
