Story of Self-Sufficiency: Rose Sharbat (E)

Science and technology are playing an important role in increasing the income of the farmers of our country. Efforts are being made to not only increase the agricultural yield through various techniques, but the focus is also on the value addition of agricultural products. Working in this direction, a new story of development has been written by the production of  ‘Rose Sharabt’ at a local level in the Kandi area of Hoshiarpur, Punjab under the DST-SAARTHI Project. Under the leadership and guidance of Prof. R. K. Dubey from the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping of Punjab Agricultural University, farmers were provided with information on the improved varieties of roses. Several programmes were organized to train and inform about making Sharabt and Gulakand from rose flowers.
