Yoga is good for peace of mind and fitness it also helps increase the cognitive capacity. At the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allies Sciences (DIPAS), New Delhi it has been researching the merits of Yoga for the last 40 years. Rarely are cameras allowed into the secretive defence research facilities hence a unique glimpse into research on yoga. Here scientists use ultra-modern techniques to quantify the benefits of important asanas likes Surya Namaskar. In fact from the submarine to the Siachin glacier today Indian soldiers are using Yoga to keep fit. The Gaganaunts or the astronauts for the Gaganyaan mission are already training using Yoga. Explaining the science behind yoga in his own style is Dr Mantu Saha who imparts yoga training to India’s armed forces.
