Science and Engineering Research Board (E)
The Department of Science and Technology conceived a pertinent institution Science and Engineering Research Board (S.E.R.B.) to position science and technology as the base for social and economic change by supporting relevant, competitive and quality scientific research and development. One of the main objective of S.E.R.B. as the premier national research funding agency is to raise the quality and footprint of Indian science and engineering to the highest global levels in an accelerated mode, through calibrated support for research and development. Set up through an Act of Parliament the Science and Engineering Research Board Act, 2008, S.E.R.B. acts as the national premier funding agency for planning, promoting and steering internationally competitive research in science and engineering.
