It has been 50 years since the inception of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) where people have dedicated their lives trying to solve the mysteries of the universe. Prof. Subramaniam takes us back to the time when IIA was a Madras Observatory in the 1870s. They made several observations of the sun during the total solar eclipse and a committee was assigned to set up an observatory in Kodaikanal.
