Dr. Akhilesh Gupta (DST) - India's Scientific Glory (E)

Dr Akhilesh Gupta obtained his M.Sc. degree in Physics from Lucknow University and the PhD degree in Atmospheric Sciences from IIT, Delhi. He worked in various leading organizations such as India Meteorological Department, National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting, Disaster Management Cell of Department of Science & Technology during 1985-2007. During 2007-09, Dr Gupta has been the Adviser to the Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences. Dr Gupta was Secretary to University Grants Commission (UGC) during 2012-13. Currently, he is heading Climate Change Programme (CCP) of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India coordinating and implementing two National Missions on Climate Change under National Action Plan on Climate Change launched by the Government.
