8 October 2022: Innovative device to diagnose neuropathy and diabetic foot syndrome (E)

Most of the 70+ million diabetic patients in India may be unaware of the looming threat of foot ulcers leading to amputation. Diabetic neuropathy is a serious diabetes complication that may affect as many as 50% of people with diabetes. There are an estimated 2 lakh diabetic foot amputations in India every year, leading to disability and further aggravation of the diabetic condition. Mumbai-based healthcare startup Ayati Devices has introduced VIBRASENSE, which can detect foot ulcers. VIBRASENSE is a quick screening tool that quantifies the severity of foot neuropathy. The technology has been developed at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and is approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO). Funded by the Department of Science and Technology under NIDHI Prayas Scheme, this Startup has also been awarded BIRAC BIG Grant by the Government of India. & they are currently incubated at SINE, IIT Bombay.
