India’s ‘Vaccineyaan’ In less than a year India has given a massive 100 crore doses of the vaccine against the SARS COV2 virus to Indians and it is being called India’s `Vaccineyaan’, and likened more important than the country’s moon and mars moments. Indian scientists and India’s vaccine industry have made stellar contribution for vaccinating the country’s vast population. India achieved a unique milestone of having administered one billion doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 to Indians. In addition to saving the lives of Indian’s, the country has also supplied over 70 million doses of the vaccine to about 100 countries as part of `vaccine maitri’. The made in India Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech Ltd, Hyderabad is a unique effort in self-reliance and the Covishield vaccine made by Serum Institute of India is an imported technology but manufactured in massive numbers in India. Spunik V the Russian made vaccine also helped achieve this 100 crore vaccine doses administered effort. Indian scientists also developed the world’s first DNA vaccine against Covid-19 and there are a few more vaccines in late stages of clinical trials. The stage is set for India becoming the vaccine pharmacy of the world.
