With the intent of providing state-of-the-art technology across the north-east region and boosting development, the Centre established the North-Eastern Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), Shillong by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. NECTAR’s mandate is to address the problems of the North-East through technology applications and support. Its core areas of activities include Bamboo Applications, Agro Processing, Skill development activities, Geo spatial applications and Communication. NECTAR’s technological interventions have transformed communities, institutions and governments and brought about an equitable, sustainable and economic development of the north east region. It has established itself as the center which fosters, nurtures and ensures delivery, sustenance and use of technology applications for the greater good of masses.
