Butter is a high-calorie food, that packs high amounts of Vitamin A, D, E, B12 and K2 - it's an important and widely available source of nutrition in India. Whereas Chocolate made from a high percentage of cocoa beans are a high source of antioxidants and various nutrients. Amul Butter is the undisputed market leader, accounting for around 85% of the Rs 3,500 crore butter market in India. In this week’s episode, we visit Amul’s Butter manufacturing plant in Anand City, where up to 174000 Kgs of Butter can be produced daily, and we also will visit AMUL’s chocolate plant at Mogar in Gujarat which is capable of processing 110000 KGs of Chocolate products Monthly. In this episode, we also look into the science and technology of producing Butter and Chocolates and also look at why these products are an important part of India’s Atmanirbhar Mission, for instance, Amul’s chocolate venture led to the upliftment of areca nut and cocoa farmers in Kerala and Karnataka, at a time when few Indian Brand ventured into chocolate manufacturing.
