Promo: IndiGen : Genomics for Public Health in India (E)

With a population of around 1.3 billion consisting of 4693 communities, thousand of endogamous groups, 325 functioning languages and 25 scripts in India, we have a vast reservoir for genetic studies. Since, genetic disorder is relatively high in some Indian communities due to consanguineous marriage practiced in those communities, the study of genomics can play a great role in fighting against these disorders. In this programme “IndiGen: Genomics for Public Health in India”, we have highlighted how India’s ambitious Indigen Project can go a long way in fighting rare genetic disorders.
